After many requests from singers from around the world I will now be offering Online Skype Singing Lessons for singers who are unable to take lessons with me in person.
The advances in technology mean that you no longer have to only study with teachers in your local area, If you have been reading through my website and think that I may be the teacher for you please do not hesitate to get in touch to discuss the possibility of learning with me online!
I know in the past I have had countless students get in touch with me saying they wished I could travel further to take lessons with them (currently my catchment area is Portsmouth / Havant / Waterlooville with some exceptions made for Petersfield and Fareham) With Skype Lessons no matter how far away you are you can now take lessons with me. As long as you have an internet connection, computer, webcam and microphone you can start learning! Obviously nothing will ever compare to one to one / face to face lessons and I will always recommend you to take these in the first instance. However if you would like to learn with me and time constraints / travel restricts you then get in contact to discuss how I may be able to help you build the voice you want!
There are a few things to bear in mind when considering taking Skype lessons
I will need to be able to see and hear you so please make sure you have a webcam and microphone installed on your device
It will be preferable for us both to wear headphones during the lesson to ensure there is no distortion or feedback.
Time Zones – Please Please Please make sure you have checked the time difference, I am based in Portsmouth, England, United Kingdom which is GMT if you are outside of the UK you may need to check how many hours apart we might be in order to make sure there isn’t any confusion about start times.
Internet Connection Issues – Please consider the quality of your internet connection before booking lessons. Usually Skype is a fraction of a second behind, which is to be expected but if your connection struggles to keep up, the enjoyment and experience of your lesson may be affected. It may be that dependant on the time of day there may be higher traffic online in your area which can affect streaming so it may be a bit of trial and error to find the right time at first. Please note that it is your responsibility to make sure you have a good enough internet connection as any delays in lessons due to connection issues may not be able to be made up once your allotted timeslot is over. I cannot accept any responsibility for call drop outs or bad connections.
Please ensure that if you are using a battery powered device that you have it fully charged or plugged in during our lesson.
Make sure you take your lesson in a place where you are not likely to be disturbed
The angle of your camera is very important make sure that you can sit or stand face on without twisting or straining your neck to look towards the camera, an upshot of your face from a laptop on the table isn’t a great viewing angle for me to get an idea of posture or any tension or strain so make sure you can keep your neck and back straight and face towards the camera.
Please be ready for your lesson, allow at least 5 – 10 minutes before your allocated lesson time to prepare yourself, get yourself some water near by, have your backing tracks / youtube ready, have any notes or goals for the lesson and any other materials that you feel you might need. It is unlikely that we will be able to make up anytime missed due to not being prepared.
Time Delays mean you will need to have your own music and have the exercises on your end. This can be discussed and arranged on booking.
I will require payment on booking for Skype Lessons. Please see my Terms and Conditions for more info
