Hi all,

A few of my students have commented on how much they have enjoyed my full day courses / workshops. Does anyone have any suggestions on what they would like to learn more about, or any events they would like me to put on?

Let me know if you have any ideas!

I think doing some mock gigs would be a great idea. I cant speak for others but I know for me I'm at my most relaxed when singing at home and doing my one to one lesson but when it comes to the gigs I panic and my anxiety level heightens as all the time your preparing for the gig it's just yourself and Sally then suddenly your in a larger room, more people, it sounds different to what your used to and I find it scary so for me doing mock gigs would help to boost my confidence and may help others who feel the same way so it becomes less daunting when it comes to the real thing.

Thats a great idea Rosie, I originally planned a course called "Going Solo" a while back but never got around to running it mainly due to time constraints but I also had hoped to float the idea of it to see if people were interested. For me the course was going to be about giving people the opportunity to perform in a "kind" environment where everyone else is pretty much in the same boat. We'd mock up a gig with full PA and a mini audience (of other singers attending the course) and give you the chance to perform with support. I as always would offer advice on your performance and we would welcome encouraging feedback from the audience. Does that sound like something you would find helpful?

Heres the original Blurb from my Going Solo Course:

"For those who aren’t quite ready to get out there and gig yet, but need help building their confidence and would like feedback about their performance. Join us in small groups to learn about building your voice and confidence to suit your aspirations. We’ll look at how to begin to conquer those nerves and develop key coping and performance techniques to make taking that next step a little bit easier in the Performance Anxiety section of our day. We will ask you to perform for us on the day so please bring a song you have prepared in advance to get the most out of the session."

Keep the ideas coming!! My courses are there for you so let me know what you would like me to cover!

Hi Sally I think your original plan for the going solo course is a great idea and would be a great help when it comes to getting out there and doing gigs. One other thought I had on the mock gigs was maybe looking at the distractions that come with gigging /added noise from people talking, laughing ordering drinks moving around, can we stay focused on what we're doing, can we hear the music and what can we do to prevent becoming distracted and possibly loosing our timing or forgetting the lyrics which could really knock confidence.

What do you think?

Hi Rosie,

I think its a great idea, again this is all apart of what makes gigging difficult for people. I'll have a think on what we can do to incorporate this!

Im looking into running it maybe August or September time!
